Position Summary: Negotiates, books and services group room accounts and all catering events. This includes, but is not limited to sleeping rooms, catering functions, set ups, audio visual and on-site servicing.

  1. Negotiates and finalizes contract and banquet event orders by meeting with clients.
  2. Research competing hotels, prospect and network to surface business
  3. Develop effective sales strategies to counter the competition.
  4. Stay abreast of local events.
  5. Conduct site visits.
  6. Prepare proposals tailored to address and impress the client.
  7. Sell to fill need dates.
  8. Identify and secure business to fit the yield strategy.
  9. Attain/exceed sales goals and profitability.
  10. Deliver a high level of guest service with key decision makers, solve guest problems, meet commitments and anticipate guest needs.
  11. Take initiative to solve problems by liaison with other hotel managers.
  12. Follows up with clients after each function to ensure satisfaction.
  13. Adhere to hotel grooming standards.
  14. Perform any additional tasks requested by management.
  15. Has a basic knowledge of Food and Beverage basics with menu pairing
  16. Maintaining effective relationships with clients and establishing new relationships
  17. To develop and promote the sale of local, corporate and wedding events
  18. Creates Banquet Event Orders, Group Resumes, Proposals, Contracts
  19. Actively sell corporate, local and wedding catering events ensuring monthly and quarter goals are met
  20. Included but not limited to are the following:
    1. Work closely with the Sales Team, and F&B Manager to ensure and maintain levels of service
    2. Work closely with Executive Chef in preparing menus for corporate and social functions
    3. Work closely with Sales Managers to ensure proper use of function space, menu pricing to maximize revenues
  21. Attend regular meetings, including but not limited to, BEO meetings, daily business review meeting, weekly staff meeting, departmental meetings
  22. Actively solicit new business and respond to inquiries with the intention of confirming profitable catering business and achieving Annual Sales Goals
  23. Finalize the requirements of confirmed bookings while maximizing revenue potential through upselling and ensuring effective communication both written (BEO’s, Group Resumes, Invoices, Rooming List) and personal contact with all departments for the success of the event
  24. Supervise the execution of banquet/meeting events

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, marketing, business or related field from a four-year college or university or High school diploma or GED plus 2 years sales related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the above skills, knowledge and ability.

Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, the use of Microsoft Word, and Excel

Knowledge of OnQ, R&I and Delphi, preferred but not required

The ideal Catering Sales Manager candidate will have a minimum of one (1) year experience as a Catering Sales Manager with a proven track record of success

Experience: Familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred.

Experience: Ability to operate a computer, phone and other office equipment.

Hours required: Scheduled days and time vary based on hotel needs. May be required to work weekends.

Ability to travel

Ability to read, write and speak English.

Ability to provide friendly guest service with a smile.
