Education & Degree Requirements

All full-time engineering positions require, at minimum, a BS in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or Construction Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.

What is ABET?
ABET is a non-governmental, non-profit agency that accredits programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.

Why does it matter?
Most state licensing boards require a degree from an ABET-accredited program as a prerequisite for obtaining your Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate and, eventually, your Professional Engineer (PE) License.

  • Confirm if your program is accredited here: ABET Home
