Maintenance Specialist – Camp Fiddlecreek, Labadie, MO

The Maintenance Specialist provides essential support to the Senior Ranger by assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of camp property during planned and unplanned absences. This part-time, flexible position is responsible for performing routine and as-needed maintenance to ensure the safety, functionality, and overall appearance of camp facilities, grounds, and equipment. The Maintenance Specialist plays a key role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all campers, volunteers, and staff.

This position is part-time, typically one weekend a month, and is based primarily at Camp Fiddlecreek in Labadie, Missouri. Shifts may include daytime, evening, or overnight hours. The hourly wage starts at $20.00.

Essential Job Duties  

  • Support weekend camp operations and events by maintaining camp buildings, equipment, and grounds. 
  • Respond to on-site property issues, ensuring safety and functionality. 
  • Conduct general maintenance including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and landscaping. 
  • Serve as the on-site contact for emergency or urgent needs when scheduled. 
  • Keep tools, equipment, and vehicles in working order. 
  • Collaborate with full-time staff, volunteers, and other contractors. 
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness in alignment with Girl Scouts’ and ACA guidelines. 
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.  

 

Work Environment

Frequently required to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt, and dust. May be exposed to vibration and oils. May occasionally be required to work near moving mechanical parts and in a high place.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in general maintenance, facilities management, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in a camp, park, or outdoor recreating setting preferred.
  • Red Cross First/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain such within 6 months of employment.
  • Class E driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
