Position: Missions Ministry Assistant

Classification: Part-time, Non-Exempt (15-20 hours per week; on-site position within Sunday - Thursday ministry work week)

Primary Reporting Relationships: Student & Missions Pastor

Direct Reports: None

Ministry Area: Ministry Staff, Missions and Mobilization

Interfaces: Church, school, and preschool staff members, church members, volunteers, guests, and other stakeholders as identified and appropriate.

Job Purpose:The Missions Assistant provides administrative and ministry support to the Student and Missions Pastor and Missions and Mobilization Ministry programs, efforts, and events to fulfill Bay Area Church’s vision to saturate the 4-B Area with the gospel by restoring people, families, and churches.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and ministry support to the Missions and Mobilization Ministry and Student and Missions Pastor

  • Assist with Common Needs requests, processes, documentation, and fulfillment; responding to phone calls and walk-ins when needed

  • Connect and communicate with Kingdom Partners across the 4B, Northeast, and Middle East, helping to foster healthy partnership and church involvement

  • Schedule and provide support for Kingdom Partner highlights and promotion

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for mission and mobilization ministry needs, trips, initiatives, events, and projects (i.e. Blessing the Bay Area, Mission Trips, Kingdom Partner highlights, etc.)

  • Assist mission trip team leaders in planning and preparing for mission team meetings

  • Work with travel agents and vendors to procure airfare, transportation, lodging, and other logistics for mission trips

  • Collect and organize mission trip participant registration, information and payments

  • Purchase insurance and register with the State Department for international mission

  • Coordinate with Communications Dept. for missions and Kingdom Partnership promotional materials and promotion needs

  • Coordinate the usage of rooms and updating the calendar for missions meetings and events

  • Attend all meetings, trainings, and events as required

  • Partner with other church staff and ministries to encourage partnership, promotion, and participation with Kingdom Partners and Missions and Mobilization Ministry efforts

  • Other duties as assigned and needed

Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Membership and involvement at Bay Area Church (or willingness to become a member)

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • A growing faith and relationship with Jesus that is evidenced in their life and relationships

  • Social ability to interact well with different types of people from different backgrounds

  • Team player with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with guests, members, vendors, and fellow employees

  • Ability to reflect and share the Gospel through words, actions, and interactions both in work and personal settings

  • Intermediate computer skills in programs such as MS Word, Excel & Outlook, etc.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, multitask and possess strong initiative

  • Possess organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and be detail-oriented

  • Practice and ensure proper sensitivity and confidentiality with information

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures

  • Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to think logically, establish and follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions

  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines

Physical Requirements:

  1. The employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers, including: Fingering - picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling; Grasping - applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Repetitive motion - substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  2. Talking the employee will be required to express or exchange ideas using the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

  3. Hearing- the employee will be required to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. The employee will need to possess the ability to receive detailed information through oral communicationand to make the discriminations in sound.

  4. Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading. Activities occur inside and outside, and the worker is subject to both environmental conditions.
